What is a pet portrait?
A pet portrait is a drawing or digital illustration of an animal of choice. This can be a pet, your favourite animal, or a symbolic animal for somebody. I've made many pet portraits already, and the reactions I get will always be very special, since it can mean so much to someone!

Available sizes
Coloured pencil drawings are available in A6, A5 and A4 since these are the sizes I prefer working in. If you have a different size in mind, let me know and we'll figure it out!
There are no specific dimensions needed for digital illustrations, so be creative and I'll make it happen.
Good to know: the bigger the drawing, the more time I need to create it. Drawing with pencils is a time consuming process, so if you'd like a bigger pet portrait which could be finished faster, than consider commissioning an acrylic painting or digital portrait!
This is how it works:
1. Contact
You are interested and send me an e-mail which includes the following:
- Preferred dimensions
- The picture you have in mind
- If needed: the deadline (e.g. a birthday)
2. Agreement
If there's space in my agenda, I will plan your commission. I will send you a quote, and if you agree to it I will ask you to make an advance payment of 20% of the total price. This way, I can get started.
3. Let's go!
Everything settled? I will start on your commission as fast as possible. The more photos you can send me of the animal in question, the better. This makes it easier for me to capture it on paper.
4. Feedback
In the meantime I will keep you updated while I progress. This means you can also give feedback on it. Did I miss a certain spot in its fur, or do I need to darken the fur a bit? Let me know and I can make changes where needed (if the drawing allows it).
I do this to make sure you will be happy with the end result!
5. Finishing touches
After possible changes and finishing touches, I will make sure the pet portrait is done before the deadline.
I will send you an update when the drawing is finished, including a photo.
6. Payment & delivery
With this last update, I will also send the invoice for the remaining amount. When I receive the payment I will pack up the portrait carefully, and send it to the address you want. Enjoy the pet portrait!
Good to be aware of:
- Use royalty free - or your own photos: you cannot use photos from e.g. Google for commissioned work like this. Just let me know if you need help with this!
- Send me high quality photos, preferably from different angles as well. The more details I see, the more realistic I can make the drawing.
- I don't draw backgrounds: just portraits.
- Contact me in time if you have a clear deadline for the drawing (e.g. a birthday, anniversary, etc.). My agenda could be full, so make sure you have your spot reserved.
Pricing animal portraits
Each dimension has its own pricing when it comes to animal portraits. See the list below. De prices are including VAT. Shipping is not included yet, since it varies per size and amount. One animal per paper = 1 subject. Two animals on the same paper = 2 subjects. Do you want each animal on its own piece of paper? Then you have to order the '1 subject' drawing twice. These prices are for coloured pencil drawings only.

Digital illustrations
Digital pet portraits and other digital nature illustrations are made in Procreate. The prices depend on the sizes and amount of detail + style. Contact me for prices without obligation to buy.
Other art commissions
Other types of art, like watercolour or acrylic paintings are also possible. Send me an e-mail to discuss the options.

FAQ
On average, making a pet portrait takes me about 8 to 16 hours. I have to spread this time over several days, so keep in mind that delivery time can take up to 5 weeks. I keep you updated throughout the process.
To make things easier and faster: give me as much info in your first e-mail as possible. Send the photos you have in mind, so I can start immediately after our agreement. You will get the option to give feedback, in case I need to make small changes to make sure the end result is what you hope for.
The payment in advance (20% of the total sum) helps me to start with your drawing. It gives me an insurance that you're serious about your commission, and I can purchase materials if needed. The payment in advance let's me know that this portrait will be bought by you, since I can't sell your pet portrait to a stranger and takes up quite some time.
I will send the animal portrait as a package with track & trace. I will make sure it's safe against rain. If all goes well, the drawing will arrive perfectly fine!
Right now, shipping costs are 4,95 euros, but this might change due to the size or amount you order. I will let you know the shipping costs in the quote. You will receive the package with track & trace.
Pet portraits will always be unique: I don't use these drawings for my other products, so this drawing will be the only copy of it! One of a kind.
If the drawing isn't just a pet, but wildlife for example, then I will ask you if I can use the drawing for reproduction (cards or art prints). You will have the original, which is super unique.
